Specialized Treatment For Anesthesia Professionals

Drug Rehab for Anesthesia Professionals

Parkdale Center for Professionals is a strategic partner of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), providing crucial addiction treatment to nurse anesthesiologists. From facilitating the AANA Helpline calls to continuing education, securing resources, and promoting advocacy, Parkdale has a unique expertise in treating hundreds of anesthesia professionals while maintaining a high rate of sobriety successes. (https://parkdalecenter.com/sobriety-rate-success/)

Anesthesia professionals are at a higher risk of developing a substance use disorder (SUD) than the general population because of the nature of their occupation: long hours at work, repeated exposure to high stress situations, increased access to controlled substances, and the knowledge of how to use these anesthesia medications.

At Parkdale, we understand that early detection of a SUD is imperative in preventing and reducing harm to both the impaired professional and their patients. This can often be a struggle for an anesthesia professional because the individual suffering from a SUD is often the last one to recognize there is a problem. Early detection is also difficult to identify because of the subtle nuisances in behavior and the many interdependent relationships that have been established.

AANA Helpline Resource: Signs & Behaviors, Intervention Essentials, Treatment Recommendations, and Re-entry Criteria for Anesthesia Professionals

Parkdale is aware of the necessity of balancing your career, your personal life, and your sobriety. We offer specialized treatment programs that cater to the specific needs of your profession.

Re-entry into the anesthesia field can be complicated due to constant opioid access, which not only threatens one’s sobriety, but it also exponentially increases the probability of relapse. Long-term, sustainable recovery is attainable, and Parkdale supports this through appropriate treatment, continuing aftercare, ongoing peer support, and collaborative decision-making for a safe return to the head of the bed.

AANA HELPLINE

Confidential Individualized Help
If you or an anesthesia professional you know needs support for alcohol or other drug use, help is available.

We Are here for you

Our AANA Partnership

Since 1983, AANA has stood at the forefront of healthcare associations dedicated to advancing the physical and mental well-being of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists (CRNA) and Resident Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists (RRNA). In 2018, Parkdale established a collaborative partnership with the AANA, leveraging our expertise in SUD to assist anesthesia professionals. From 2019 to 2024, Parkdale has responded to more than 600 AANA Helpline calls, answering informational inquiries and offering alcohol and other drug related support to anesthesia professionals. This partnership has broadened our impact, aiding CRNAs and RRNAs, confronting a SUD or facing suspicions of drug diversion.

The expanded alliance between Parkdale and the AANA seeks to heighten awareness of the AANA Helpline to ensure swift assistance in the early stages of a problematic use of alcohol or other drugs. Our goal is to intervene early and promptly, offer vital support to those in need, and circumvent challenges associated with delayed assistance by facilitating expedited admission into treatment.
