The Parkdale Center Difference

Our Virtual IOP Program in Indiana

Our virtual IOP contains much of the same programming as our traditional IOP. The Parkdale Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is often recommended by our clinical team for individuals that have met specific treatment goals and individuals whose situation does not necessarily require partial hospitalization. An IOP is often the “next step” after the PHP and is designed to build on the skills and education learned in initial programming. An IOP is designed to ensure that an individual establishes and maintains new and healthy habits. All remote groups are facilitated by a licensed mental health and addiction clinician and can be accessed virtually. An IOP consists of group sessions, self-reflection check-ins, and open sharing—allowing for the development of individual recovery goals in a supportive environment. Sessions work through materials from the IOP curriculum that regularly identify and reinforce daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term recovery goals from a distance.

Common factors that determine whether one is eligible for an IOP include:

A thorough assessment by a qualified member of our team is typically conducted to determine the appropriate level of care. This assessment considers factors such as the severity of symptoms, the presence of co-occurring disorders, level of functioning, and treatment history.

Individuals who are medically stable and not at immediate risk of harm to themselves or others may be suitable for an IOP. If a higher level of care, such as inpatient treatment, is required for safety reasons, an IOP may not be appropriate.

It is beneficial for individuals participating in an IOP to have a stable and supportive living environment. This support can come from family, friends, or a sober living arrangement that promotes recovery.

The treatment team, based on the assessment and clinical judgment, determines that the individual can benefit from the structure and intensity of an IOP to address their mental health or substance use issues.

Individuals must demonstrate a willingness and commitment to actively participate in the treatment program. This includes attending scheduled sessions, engaging in therapy, and actively working towards their recovery goals.

Aftercare & Continued Care

What Happens After Completing Virtual IOP?

After completing our remote IOP, you can find continuing support to help you maintain your recovery. The Parkdale Aftercare Program is a facilitated group that meets once a week at our treatment center. This program is designed to support those in recovery as they continue their journey of recovery after the initial treatment phase. The Aftercare program allows access to a supportive community while providing accountability, continued learning opportunities, access to resources, and emotional support to prevent relapse and lead to long-term success.

In addition to the Aftercare group, Parkdale is proud to support and host various no-cost peer groups such as the Nursing Support Groups, Caduceus Group for advanced health care providers, and various 12-Step Recovery Groups. All programs are easily accessible remotely through computers or phones and in the privacy of your own home.

If you are not familiar with a 12-Step program, it can be helpful to learn more.

Widely used for addressing various addictions, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders, a 12-step program is based on a set of principles and spiritual concepts that guide individuals through a process of recovery and personal growth. The most well-known and influential 12-step program is Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

The foundational philosophy of a 12-step program is that addiction is a chronic disease that affects the mind, body, and spirit. The program promotes abstinence from the addictive substance or behavior and encourages individuals to take responsibility for their actions, make amends for past harm, and develop a spiritual connection or higher power to support their recovery.
