BCBS Drug Rehab Coverage

Treatment for substance use disorder seems out of reach for many people due to costs. Most people don’t have instant access to all the funds needed to cover treatment costs, but many clients make it work by using health insurance coverage.

Insurance can often cover some, if not most, costs associated with outpatient care for substance use disorder. Parkdale Center, an outpatient treatment facility located in Indiana, works with most major insurance carriers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). If you want to contact us right now, we’re ready to help. Call us at 888-895-2471 for 24/7 support or to learn more about our BCBS drug rehab services.

Paying for Addiction Treatment

Does Health Insurance Cover Outpatient Treatment?

Yes, in many cases, health insurance covers the costs of outpatient treatment for drug or alcohol addiction (commonly called substance use disorder). You might have to pay some of the costs through copays, deductibles, or yearly out-of-pocket limits.

Every plan is different, though, and you should not assume your insurance will help pay for treatment at any facility. Some plans might only cover talk therapy and detoxification, for instance, while others cover everything from medication-assisted therapy to all types of outpatient treatment.

An Overview of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Health Insurance

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) is actually an association of dozens of independent companies. These companies include Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Indiana, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Blue Shield West Virginia. More than 115 million people in the U.S. receive coverage from a Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) company.

The most common arrangement for health insurance in the U.S. is employer-sponsored coverage. Employers and employees share the cost of monthly premiums. You might be included on an employer-sponsored health insurance plan through your spouse, parents, or other qualifying relative.

Most health insurance plans offered through a BCBSA company fall into one of three categories:

  • HMO: Has low monthly premiums but will typically only cover in-network doctors and services (besides emergencies)
  • EPO: Has higher premiums than an HMO but may have more in-network options
  • PPO: Has the most expensive premiums but offers a wide range of in-network options and may even cover services that are not in-network

Please refer to your plan’s Summary of Benefits for specifics on what your insurance will cover. Prospective clients at Parkdale Center always have the opportunity to verify your BCBS drug rehab benefits with our team before committing to any programs.

Stories of Hope

We Are Here to Help

BCBS Drug Rehab for Professionals

Parkdale Center accepts anyone who wants help managing substance use disorder. We are, however, one of the few places considered a drug and alcohol rehab for professionals. In this context, a professional is someone in a highly accountable industry or profession. These individuals often have professional licenses and reputations to maintain—not to mention unique on-the-job pressures. A few professions that line up with our usual clientele include:

  • Athletes
  • Doctors
  • Lawyers
  • Nurses
  • Business executives
  • Teachers
  • Pilots
  • Accountants
  • First responders

You can count on Parkdale Center to deliver professional treatment to professionals. That means you’ll receive discreet, efficient, and sensitive outpatient services, including those eligible for BCBS drug rehab coverage.

Starting Your Journey

What to Expect on Your First Day

“The first day is always the hardest.” Many professionals starting new jobs agree with that saying, but it’s also true for many endeavors and initiatives that last longer than a day. Outpatient treatment for substance use disorder is no exception. To make the first day a little less overwhelming, we’ve outlined the first few steps clients often take at our facility.

The first in-person encounter for Parkdale Center clients is the initial intake process. Because we only offer outpatient services, clients must test negative on an alcohol breath test and drug urine test. If you pass both tests, a staff member will help you fill out the necessary paperwork. Part of the intake process involves verifying insurance coverage and discussing financial arrangements. One or more of your loved ones may be present during this phase.

Another reason to have a loved one present during the admissions process is the importance Parkdale Center places on familial involvement during treatment. We won’t force your family to participate if you don’t feel it would be helpful. If there is an opportunity to involve your family in your treatment, however, our staff can discuss their involvement during this phase.

After crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s on your admissions paperwork, a staff member will give you a handbook that details our center’s policies and rules. You can also use your handbook to document your progress during treatment.

You will spend much of the first day getting acquainted with the facility, its amenities, and your schedule. A staff member will give you a locker to store personal items. You may get the opportunity to “shadow” a current client to help you get acclimated to therapy sessions and attend your first group therapy session.

To solidify your treatment plan, you’ll meet with a staff member for a discussion about your medical and substance use history. After that, our facility’s health practitioner will perform an initial health assessment so we can establish baseline measurements for key health markers. Finally, you’ll meet your nurse case manager, who’ll check in with you throughout your treatment.

How We Can Help

Specialized Services Offered at Parkdale Center

Just as each client experiences substance use disorder differently, each client needs a unique treatment plan. Most Parkdale Center clients receive a combination of one-on-one, group, and family therapies in addition to medication-assisted therapies. Within the scope of our outpatient programs, though, you can find the following.

Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis treatment refers to the simultaneous treatment of substance use disorder and mental health conditions. Clients with drug or alcohol addictions who also have depression, anxiety, OCD, or other mental illnesses need expert dual diagnosis care, which is the best setup for long-term recovery.

Withdrawal Management

While Parkdale Center does not offer inpatient services, we consider ourselves a withdrawal management center because we offer a robust virtual program to help clients rid their bodies of drugs or alcohol. Some people need 24/7, in-person detoxification services, but many find they can manage withdrawal symptoms with our unique program. Our virtual withdrawal management program is also less expensive than inpatient options.

Career Restoration

Confronting your substance use disorder should be a priority, but we understand that you worked hard to achieve your current professional standing. Our staff will do everything possible to ensure you can keep your job, licenses, accreditations, and reputation while at Parkdale Center. We have deep connections with local regulatory agencies and law enforcement, and we can put that to work for you.
