Professional Addiction Treatment
The Need for Active Duty and Veterans Drug Rehab
Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is one of the most common substance use disorders among military personnel. While young soldiers under 25 years old are at a particularly high risk, it is vital to remember that substance use disorders of all kinds can impact anyone. People in the military often face high rates of trauma, grief, and other mental health challenges. Military culture can normalize risky behaviors like excessive drinking, and yet, those in need of addiction treatment often face barriers such as stigma and fears related to how admitting that they have a problem could affect their military career.
At Parkdale Center, we strongly feel that no one should have to be afraid of losing the career or status they have worked hard for due to seeking substance abuse treatment. Getting help for addiction is always something to take pride in, and our team is versed in helping active duty military and veterans navigate substance use disorder treatment confidently.
Professionals specializing in advocacy, legal issues, and reentry services work on-site at Parkdale Center. If you have any questions about how our confidential treatment programs can help you or your loved one in need of active duty and veterans drug rehab services, please call our admissions line. We are here to help individuals and military families work through treatment barriers and get the care they need.

The Military Drug Rehab Program at Parkdale Center
The addiction therapy programs at Parkdale Center all have distinct time commitments. We offer the following types of addiction treatment programs to all clients. However, those attending our active military and veteran-specific rehab program will have access to specialized services such as trauma-informed therapy geared toward their population, regardless of their current care level.
All clients at Parkdale Center get individualized treatment plans. As you make progress, you may work with your team to make changes to your treatment plan or schedule (e.g., moving from partial hospitalization to intensive outpatient programming). With that in mind, here is what to expect in our programs.
Most incoming clients at Parkdale Center start with withdrawal management. Our withdrawal management program provides medication for withdrawal symptoms, which can relieve discomfort during the initial stages of sobriety. Since our withdrawal management services operate on an outpatient basis, we can refer you to an inpatient detox center as a precursor to one of our therapy programs if needed.
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) includes a full daily therapy schedule from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. PHP involves a combination of evidence-based therapies for addiction and mental health, supportive holistic treatments, 12-step groups or alternatives, recreation activities, physical activity, including a free local YMCA membership, and more. Family involvement is encouraged but not required. PHP is our most intensive level of care and typically lasts for 4-6 weeks.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Parkdale Center is one step down from PHP, offering increased flexibility and time for external obligations. Our IOP clients attend therapy about three days per week for around three hours on each treatment day. Usually, clients in IOP at Parkdale Center stay in this care level for about 4-8 weeks.
The outpatient or aftercare program at Parkdale Center provides ongoing support for clients who have completed a higher level of care. Outpatient clients attend virtual treatment sessions 1-2 days per week for as long as they need.
We offer a 100% virtual intensive outpatient program for clients who prefer or need online sessions. The time commitment required for virtual IOP is similar to that of our in-person intensive outpatient program, but you will not have to commute to treatment each day.

Parkdale Center offers comfortable and sophisticated sober living accommodations. Once a Summer retreat, then a bed and breakfast, our sober living accommodations are unlike any other. There are many benefits to staying in sober living, such as accountability and support to help you stay on the path toward sustained recovery.
The risk of addiction is higher in Veterans with PTSD compared to those who do not have the disorder. In fact, almost a third of Veterans seeking substance abuse treatment also have PTSD. Parkdale Center treats PTSD and other mental health conditions that frequently co-occur with substance abuse, such as mood disorders and anxiety disorders.
Treating co-occurring mental health conditions is often vital for people in addiction recovery, increasing positive treatment outcomes and helping you build the full spectrum of skills necessary to care for your well-being.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) refers to FDA-approved medications used to treat some types of substance use disorders, including AUD. Alongside therapy, medication treatments for addiction can be life-changing. We offer MAT for clients who benefit from it alongside general psychiatry services.
