Grief and Loss

"You can acknowledge loss and turn the grieving process into something positive."

Christian Gabrano, Certified Addiction and Drug Abuse Consultant II at Parkdale Center for Professionals, recently gave an informational talk for the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) 2020 Virtual Congress. Christian's presentation walked through grief and loss - with the reminder that grief is a process and not just a feeling.

He identified the several types of loss, including material, relationship, intrapsychic, functional, role, and systemic, and how one can help themselves through the grieving process by turning it into something positive. This can be done when an individual identifies with a specific grieving type, helping them make sense of what has happened and to also feel purpose.

Please watch his presentation and reach out to Parkdale Center for support if you’re a professional who is struggling. You are not alone.
